Main Purpose of Role

This position is tailored for individuals at the early to mid-level of their career, ideally with 2 to 3 years of experience in security risk consulting. Candidates beyond this experience level may not be suitable for the role.

As a Risk Consultant your primary responsibility will involve assisting in the execution of risk management projects for our clients, with a terrorism focus. Additionally, you will collaborate with other members of the consultancy to implement existing capabilities and contribute to the development of new risk consulting services within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Project Lead to execute risk management projects, adhering to ISO:31000 guidelines, while staying within budget and meeting deadlines by completing assigned tasks.
  • Assist the consultancy in identifying and cultivating engagement opportunities, as well as advancing the growth and expansion of consulting services.
  • When appropriate, collaborate with a network of subject matter experts and contracted associates.
  • Contribute to enhancing awareness of threats and methods to mitigate them by producing articles, blogs, and materials as directed, aimed at increasing members’ understanding of terrorism risk management.
  • Aid in the implementation of the Vulnerability Self-Assessment Tool (VSAT).
  • Monitor user engagement to facilitate the delivery of VSAT workshops effectively. Recognize potential emerging risks and communicating them to the Risk Function as needed.

Requirements

  • Practical experience of 2-3 years within a security risk management environment, for example, consulting, advising, or project managing.
  • Demonstrable track-record of delivering and completing tasks in support of a project’s delivery, evidencing where solutions have been identified to challenges or problems encountered.
  • Awareness and interest in global terrorism and its impact on businesses and the implementation of protective security measures.
  • Experience and exposure to Security risk management projects to organisations in accordance with ISO 31000 (Risk Management) practices.
  • Proven experience working with a broad range of different people and experiences.
  • Organisational skills: ability to coordinate and prioritise different workstreams, to ensure the timely delivery of tasks as directed.
  • Relationship building: comfortable establishing and maintaining close working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • A bachelor’s (Essential) or Master’s (Desirable) in a subject relatable to the Security Risk Consultant role.

Or;

  • Current and valid qualifications in one or more of the following:
    • Risk management (IRM or equivalent).
    • Crisis management (BCM Institute or equivalent).
    • Physical and/or technical Security (CSMP, SRMC, or equivalent).
    • Project management (PRINCE2 / APM).

Desirable

  • An ability to identify consulting opportunities and promote consulting services to large and small businesses.
  • Awareness or experience working with engineering systems, drawings and information, applied in a risk management context
