Our client is a globally-recognised manufacturing company and they are looking for a Security Manager, situated in Dakar, to oversee their security operations within assigned affiliates and manufacturing centres. This position will serve as the primary liaison and advisor to affiliate commercial and manufacturing management. The primary objective is to ensure the successful execution of all security programs, initiatives, and goals, thereby ensuring the safety and security of the company’s personnel, business interests, assets, and reputation.

Responsibilities

  • Assess emerging business and operational models to identify potential security and market safety risks and gaps, and communicate these findings to relevant partners.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the cluster’s countries, incorporating external and internal risk exposure and incident trends to inform business decision-making.
  • Oversee the implementation of our client’s market and fleet safety strategies and standard methodologies in designated markets, including the establishment of safeguards, contingency plans, and emergency response protocols.
  • Foster regular communication with affiliate management (both commercial and manufacturing), other partners, and functional colleagues to ensure alignment of security strategies and service levels with company goals.
  • Cultivate a sense of ownership for fleet safety programs among all employees, including senior leadership, and ensure that all drivers of company vehicles understand and adhere to safety standards.
  • Conduct assessments and reviews at the affiliate level to identify and address any non-conformities.
  • Lead the local delivery of security, market safety, and fleet safety training and awareness programs in compliance with both corporate and local regulatory requirements, fostering a strong security culture. Support market/affiliate management in tactical emergency response management.
  • Ensure that local security & market safety leads effectively communicate pertinent information to employees during functional meetings, including security/safety briefings, alerts, instructions, and refresher training. Maintain up-to-date training records in accordance with company requirements and applicable occupational health and safety (OHS) and Fleet Safety legislation.
  • Develop the skills and capabilities of local Security & Market Safety teams and collaborators through coaching and mentoring, thereby enhancing essential skills and knowledge throughout the cluster.
  • Encourage the exchange of standardized processes among affiliates and markets and actively participate in projects and initiatives involving cross-market, cross-functional, and cross-regional cooperation.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of incident and event reporting related to Security & Market Safety. Review and consolidate associated metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide comprehensive reports, highlighting trends and critical issues to relevant levels of management.
  • Develop, implement, and lead emergency response protocols for people, businesses, assets, and reputation in the face of natural and human-made disasters. Regularly review and update these protocols.
  • Manage incident investigation, analysis, and reporting, as well as the retention of incident records, to identify patterns and root causes and provide guidance on preventing the recurrence of incidents.
  • Participate as a member of a security/safety response team during incidents and events.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in both English and French languages is mandatory.
  • Prior experience in conducting security risk assessments and safety audits, coupled with knowledge of supply chain security standards (e.g., TAPA, C-TPAT) and occupational health and safety (OHS) training or certifications (such as NIOSH or equivalent).
  • Proven expertise in specialized security systems and market safety tools, with hands-on experience in addressing national and international security concerns.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously, exhibit high motivation, and demonstrate initiative in completing security and safety-related tasks.
  • Willingness to travel within the region and occasionally outside the region (up to 40% travel required).
  • A bachelor’s degree is required, along with relevant postgraduate professional certifications and/or occupational training.
  • Proficiency in Managing and Implementing Standard Crisis Management and Emergency Response Protocols.
  • Familiarity with Fleet Safety Standard Practices is a Valuable Asset.
