Reporting to the Regional Security Director, and managing an existing team, this role will be responsible for a broad range of manufacturing, office and warehousing sites for a true household name.

The principal accountability of the postholder is driving the implementation and execution of security, crisis management and business continuity management strategies across the country.  As a such, a high-level understanding of the regional political and economic dynamic, and their implications on the current and prevailing security environment is a must have skill-set.

In collaboration with country leadership, the post-holder will ensure that the business benefits from and effective and sustainable security programme that identifies, assesses and cost-effectively mitigates, risk to people, assets and business objectives. Key focus areas include (but are not limited to) war and armed conflict, criminality, civil unrest, extremism/terrorism, armed conflict, commercial espionage, fraud and product/material diversion or adulteration.

The main effort going-forward will be to drive business unit-level security strategy; raise security awareness amongst corporate leadership teams and associates, and to drive standardization of operating procedures. This will be conducted against the complex and high-risk backdrop of an active war being fought on the territory of the Ukraine.

The highlights of these accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • In line with the broader strategy, implement a country-wide security strategy to identify, assess and mitigate risks to people, assets and objectives.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with, and provide consultation to, local management teams.
  • Plan and oversee periodic security risk assessments and annual security reviews at sites, to identify critical vulnerabilities and to assist in closing these risks through cost-effective, best practice security enhancements.
  • Analyse security risks inherent in undertaking new business ventures and offer proportionate, risk-informed mitigation/control measures.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with national and local security, intelligence, emergency response, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities as well as with security managers of other large multinational companies.
  • Ensure compliance with broader regional Security Risk Management System and supporting standards and procedures.
  • Deliver a BU-aligned, multi-year CAPEX plan that ensures effective, risk-informed security spend.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness and training programs.
  • Advise and assist before, during and after security incidents, including on-the-spot risk assessments and security advice to business travellers.
  • Conduct and coordinate investigations to include counterfeit, extortion, contamination of our products, loss reduction, kidnapping, robberies, Speak Up, fraud, corruption, and security threats against the Sector’s interests and associates.
  • Ensure the continued professional development of the UA security team, to include the identification of suitable individuals in longer-term succession planning.
  • Oversee and facilitate the ongoing strengthening of a sustainable, country-wide Crisis Management and Business Continuity Planning and capability.
  • Ensure through training and audit validate that the BU’s Crisis Management and Business Continuity and plans are current and functional.

Candidate profile:

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and complex, rapidly expanding business environment;
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in public and/or private sector with accountabilities and key measures listed above;
  • Former military or intelligence personnel required due to ongoing risks associated with conventional war in Europe.
  • Comprehensive substantive knowledge of best security practices, principles and objectives.
  • Understanding of ISO-standard management systems, including ISOs 31000 and 22301.
  • Advanced, proven experience in security management, protective services, and law enforcement;
  • Well-refined interpersonal skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum); and
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
